Things to consider when selecting a nursing home

Putting a loved one into a nursing home can be a difficult decision, but you'll feel a lot better about it if you know more about the facility you're choosing. You want one that's safe, will provide your loved one with good quality care and treat them fairly. To find those things, it is necessary to spend some time looking. There are a few specific things you want to consider when you visit facilities.

Worker killed in hydraulic press accident in Columbus, Ohio

When you head to work, you expect to be safe on the job. If you're new at the job, you want to know that you've been told everything possible about how to stay safe. If you're hurt because of your employer's negligence or lack of safety standards, it's important to understand your right to workers' compensation. You shouldn't have to worry about paying for medical bills or making up lost wages. If you pass away in an incident, these same benefits may help your family recover financial losses.

Keeping children safe around dogs

Being bitten by a dog can be serious for anyone, particularly children. Since children are smaller they may suffer more damage from a dog bite than an adult. There have even been cases where children have died following a dog attack. The best way to avoid being bitten is to stay away from dogs, but that's not realistic for many people. Children like to pet dogs, and having a pet can bring a lot of joy in life. Fortunately, there are ways to reduce the risk.

Bedsores and why they develop in patients

Bedsores are a risk to anyone who stays in the same position too long, but they are most common for those who are unable to move, like those who sit in a wheelchair or who suffer from paralysis. The pressure placed on the skin over time causes wounds. The sores, known as bedsores, pressure ulcers or decubitus ulcers, are completely avoidable.

Father awarded $6 million in wrongful death case

The death of a mother is a horrible situation; the newborn child has no time to grow with a mother's care, and the father or family involved is left to care for a new child as well as mourning their loss. When medical malpractice is the cause of a death, it's possible to receive compensation for that malpractice. Family members can seek compensation for the loss of consortium and other financial losses as well.

Stay off social media when pursuing personal injury lawsuit

Though perhaps hard to imagine several years ago, today, social media accounts such as Facebook, Twitter and Instagram are a main form of communication for many. Few people who use the internet have not opened a social media account. A report from the Pew Research Center, found 74 percent of adults who are online have such accounts. That report was based on information from January 2014 and since then it is likely that even more people have signed up.
