Some Ohio motor vehicle accidents result in charges being filed

A tragedy occurred on Ohio Interstate 75 on a recent Wednesday morning. Several vehicles were involved in the incident. The crash proved fatal for one man and another suffered injuries. Motor vehicle accidents such as this one sometimes result in charges being filed against one or more of the parties involved. In this case, reports indicate that charges are pending against the driver of a truck.

A 41-year-old man was sitting behind the wheel of his car which had become disabled from a tire gone flat. The man's vehicle was pulled over in the emergency stopping lane. The truck reportedly came speeding through the emergency lane and struck the man's stopped automobile.

Sadly, the man in the disabled car was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. The 54-year-old man who was driving the truck was injured and taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. Reports indicate that his injuries were not life-threatening. A lieutenant involved in the police investigation of the crash said that it appears that the truck that struck the car had just been involved in another collision, moments earlier, on the same road.  Police say that speed was a leading factor in the cause of the accident that killed the 41-year-old.

Ohio law allows immediate family members who survive loved ones killed in motor vehicle accidents caused by the negligence of another party to seek retribution for their losses by filing legal claims on behalf of the deceased in civil courts. Depending upon the damages listed in a successfully litigated claim, compensation can be awarded that can help offset funeral costs and other financial losses related to the accidents. A first logical step to take  would be to discuss the details of a case with an experienced attorney who can guide one through the process of filing a claim in court.
