The driver of a truck that was hauling a full-sized boat is alleged to have caused a chain reaction crash in, Ohio, on July 22, 2017. His truck ultimately crashed into and severely injured a food truck worker.According to witness statements taken by the Ohio Highway Patrol, the driver of the Ford F-350 truck was seen driving in the southbound direction along Route 83 shortly before the crash. The purpose of the initial consultation with your attorney

If you're thinking about retaining an attorney, the first thing you have to do is have an initial consultation. In order to make the most of your time, it's important to understand the purpose of the initial consultation and what you should bring with you.

Don't let a nurse case manager derail your workers' compensation claim

What exactly is a nurse case manager (NCM)? In Ohio's workers' compensation system, case managers are registered nurses who are supposed to play a supportive role and help coordinate the care that an injured worker receives from the company's workers' compenstation insurer.

The risk of sharps injuries for health care workers

Those who work in the health care field serving patients should be commended and appreciated, whether they are a physician, a nurse or a nurse's assistant. At all levels, these jobs carry risks that most don't have to deal with. One risk that is especially worrisome for many is getting injured by sharps while on duty.

Ohio loosens gun laws, allows them on work properties

A March 21 report shows that a new law will be affecting the way guns are handled in workplaces. Ohio will not allow handguns to be banned from company property, meaning that employees can now bring their guns to work. Anyone who has a state permit to carry a concealed gun may bring it to work, according to the law, as long as it is locked up and kept in the person's vehicle.

Can independent contractors get workers' compensation?

Independent contractors are not employed by an employer. Instead, they are contracted in for a specific contract period. In most cases, they are not eligible for workers' compensation if they are hurt on the job. Don't automatically assume you won't qualify for any benefits, though, because there could be a case in which you're misclassified as an independent contractor when you are actually an employee. If that happens, then you can file a claim for workers' compensation.
